Once upon a time, there was a band called “Why Isn’t Cheap Trick in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?” They would play a free show every year on the day of the rock hall induction ceremony (with a repertoire consisting entirely of Cheap Trick tunes) and the marquee & advertisements for the gig would say “Why Isn’t Cheap Trick in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? LIVE!”
Then one day, Cheap Trick actually got inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. This made the band “Why Isn’t Cheap Trick in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?” very happy and they decided to throw a big party with their friend Marcy Mays at her club Ace of Cups. However, soon after, the band noticed that nobody was interested Why Isn’t Cheap Trick in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? anymore. The party was over. Their manager suggested they become Why Isn’t Foghat in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? but nobody really likes Foghat much. And they could never learn how to play “Slow Ride” to the very end, because NOBODY ever actually listens to “Slow Ride” all the way through. And one time they played “Godzilla” by accident because they got confused and the crowd got angry. Very angry. That was their final show.
Until they realized they could take their hard-learned mediocre versions of Cheap Trick songs and use them as a force for good instead of a force for free drinks and cheap sex.
Cheap Trick For Charity was born!
So join Colin Gawel, Marcy Mays, Scott Carr, Rick Kinsinger, Dan Cochran, Dave Masica and Mike Sammons for a night of Cheap Trick music to benefit the Heart to Heart Food Pantry. Also on the bill will be the Smitherette Brothers. performing the record Especially For You by The Smithereens. It all takes place at Woodlands Tavern in Columbus, Ohio Friday, January 12th. Doors are at 7 pm, show starts at 8 pm. Free admission but $$$ being accepted to benefit the Heart to Heart food pantry. No goods, please.
