The Grand Soiree: A Benefit For Bob Sauls / Natalie's / Thursday, April 10th

I don't know what to say about Bob Sauls that hasn't already been said by many. I think I first saw Bob at Dick's Den, playing solo. I was amazed how he had that Nawlin's gumbo/greasy/delta groove I've always loved. I told Bob that if he ever needed a drummer, to give me a call. I envisioned a band with Bob and the late great Mike Parks on slide guitar, pumping out a sleazy groove that no dancer could resist. That band never came to be, but Bob still has that greasy groove in his soul. When WCBE’s Jon Peterson called telling me Bob had some health issues and a fundraiser was in the works, I told Jon I would help in any way I could. The Grand Soiree is this Thursday, April 10th, at Natalie's, and Columbus' Finest have stepped up to help. The lineup is comprised of many of the finest players and songwriters Columbus has to offer. You may never get another chance to see all these great artists in one place again. There's still some tickets left, so please step up and help one of the finest human beings I've ever known get the help he needs.

Ricki C.’s two cents - I first met Bob Sauls in the early 1990’s when he, RJ Cowdery, myself & my good friend John Vincent all used to play at the campus BW3 Wednesday Night Open Stage. Bob was the best of all of us back then, and I believe he still is now.
